Kouhei is a single father and high school teacher who lives with his only daughter. A chance encounter brings him together with Kotori, one of his students. The three of them start to meet together to make meals, but none of them know how to cook.

#1 Uniforms and Donabe Rice

Inuzuka Kouhei is a teacher who has been raising his daughter, Tsumugi, by himself following the death of his wife six months ago, often feeding her pre-made bento lunches. While visiting a flower viewing festival, Kouhei and Tsumugi come across a girl wowed over by her mother's cooking, who gives them a business card for their family's restaurant.

#2 Pork Miso Soup and Restaurant Lights

While still on the fence over Kotori's proposal, Kouhei arranges to meet up with Kotori's mother, Megumi, to discuss things first.

#3 Tsumugi and the Long-Awaited Salisbury Steak

Tsumugi gets in a fight with her kindergarten classmate, Mikio, when he accuses her of being a thief for wanting to take some clay home. As the experience leaves Tsumugi feeling downhearted, Kouhei and Kotori decide to make Hamburg steak in the hopes of cheering her up.

#4 A Gratin Filled with Dreaded Veggies

Kouhei receives a lot of vegetables and tries making some dishes with them, but struggles to get Tsumugi to eat them as she is picky about eating vegetables.

#5 Special Doughnuts on a Day Off

Hearing that Tsumugi seems to hold herself back from eating doughnuts, Kotori decides to teach Kouhei and Tsumugi how to make their own.

When Kouhei comes down with a fever, Tsumugi leaves the house on her own and goes on an adventure.

Kouhei hears about the other parents making new bags for their children and offers to make Tsumugi a new one but she declines, wanting to keep the bag her mother made for her.

#9 Our Homemade Curry

It's sleepover night at the preschool! The class is making curry, just like you'd make at home. But Tsumugi's "at-home curry" is different than usual. It's got raisins! Kouhei decides to make Tsumugi the special keema curry that her mother used to make. But how will Tsumugi react to this memory of mommy?

#10 Summer Vacation, Cats, and Aji

Tsumugi has decided that she's a cat! When daddy gets an ice chest full of yummy fish, she's more than excited to watch him make them! But to make namerou, or as Kotori calls it, "fish hamburg steak" you have to be able to filet the fish, and Kouhei doesn't know how! To make matters worse, neither does anyone else! Can he turn to the internet for help?

#11 A Play and Sweet Potato Crepes

It's the week of the play, and Tsumugi wants to be Mr. Galigali, the fluffy mascot of her favorite TV show. But trouble breaks out when her friends want her to be a magical girl.

#12 Okonomiyaki Filled With Love

It's the one-year anniversary of Tsumugi's mom's death, and she and daddy go to the countryside to attend the funeral.

CHARACTERS

Inuzuka Kouhei

A single dad of Tsumugi who is warm-hearted. His wife died of an unknown illness and he's now taking care of his daughter alone. Kouhei is also a math teacher at Kotori's school. He decides to make good food for his daughter Tsumugi and ends up cooking with Kotori.

Inuzuka Tsumugi

Tsumugi is Kouhei's only daughter. She is an energetic girl who loves her father and is the reason why Kohei decides to cook. She has a decisive role in choosing the menu of meals and helps Kohei and Kotori with some easy tasks while cooking.

Iida Kotori

Kotori is a lonely high school girl who is a student of Kouhei's. Her mom is a cook but is always busy. Kotori asks Kouhei to make meals and eat with her. She has great knowledge about recipes but is afraid of knives. Hence, she is in-charge of tasting food while cooking. Kotori also gets along well with Tsumugi.

Kojika Shinobu

A friend of Kotori's. According to herself, she's impetuous. She joins cooking to help her friend Kotori and is a better cook than other people. She notices that Kotori cares about Kouhei and Tsumugi dearly.

Yagi Yusuke

A friend of Kouhei's. Because of his look, Kotori mistakes him as a kidnapper, but he actually takes care of Tsumugi when Kouhei is busy.
