First Love Ranking (Female Ed.)

In conjunction with First Love Day (30 October), here are the results of “Which anime character is your first love?”, female edition.

#1 Hinata Hyuga [Naruto]

3% of the votes. Hinata is normally a reserved character, but shows her true strength for her loved ones. Comments include “Hinata may seem to be always lacking confidence, but for her loved ones she has immense will who can take on any adversity” and “She is modest, stylish, cute, good at cooking, and too ideal a partner. I am envious of Naruto.”

#2 Asuna [Sword Art Online]

Just one vote away at number two is Asuna. Comments include “A heroine with grace and cuteness” and “At first glance, she looks to be the attention-seeking younger sister type.” She is also a hit with the female fans, as a desirable homosexual partner.

#3 Sakura Kishimoto [Cardcaptor Sakura] and Kagura [Gin Tama]

Tied at number three with the same number of votes are Sakura and Kagura with 2% votes. “Sakura’s behaviour and reactions are cute. I’m in love with her bright smile.” For Kagura: “She’s too cute and can bring a smile to everyone!”

There were votes for characters of varying works from Lum (Urusei Yatsura) to Platelet (Cells at Work), reaffirming that fans are captivated by these colourful heroines.

The poll – titled “Which anime character is your first love?” – was carried out on 312 people (45% male and 55% female), of which 47% were under the age of 19 and 32% in the 20s.
